By default, all islands, bridges and stairs have 4K textures (4096x4096) baked exclusively for these objects. Due to the complexity and size of 3D objects, this was the resolution defined for better texture details, which may cause performance problems in your project if you use many islands on the same map.
Additional objects have varying textures of 2K (2048x2048) and 1K (1024x1024).
In this file you will find alternative versions for all the textures in the project.
Each folder corresponds to maximum resolution versions of the textures, that is, no texture will exceed the predefined resolution, there will be textures with lower resolutions, as this is the native resolution of the object's texture.
In the 1K folder there will only be 1024x1024 textures (minimum existing resolution).
In the 2K folder there will be 2048x2048 and 1024x1024 textures (Some objects have 1024x1024 textures by default and therefore there will be no increase in resolution).
In the 4K folder there will be all the original textures of the project, 4096x4096 - 2048x2048 - 1024x1024. This folder serves exclusively as a backup so that you have all the texture versions.
There will be no .FBX files or any other files inside the folders, only textures will be updated.
To change the texture versions in the project, access the desired resolution (1K, 2K or 4K), copy all the folders and paste directly into the path:
PROJECT-FOLDER\res\model
Select Yes when asked to replace all files. Make sure to restart BAKIN if the project is open at the time of replacement.
--- This same process will be done for the LDO file version, read the attached file. ---
Test the resolutions and see which one best suits your project. If you only use maps with a few islands (3-5 at most), choose 4K resolution. You will have much more detail in the textures.
If your focus is to have as many islands as possible within the map, use only 2K textures. Performance with this resolution is satisfactory, even with dozens of islands.
1K resolution is recommended only if the map zooms in at a suitable distance so that the low-resolution texture does not pose a visual problem for the user.
You can also combine resolutions as you wish. Just copy the chosen folders and add them to the project.
See the images below with the comparison between the resolutions.
